Challenge Yourself to Write out the Book of Colossians

join the groupHave you thought of writing out the books of the Bible? That’s a pretty hefty goal, right? When you think of the 66 books in the Bible, yes, it is a pretty big goal, but what if you wrote them out one book at a time? You could begin with a challenge to yourself to write out the book of Colossians. That would be a great starting place if it is your first time to handwrite the Bible.

Tips for the Handwriting Challenge

Here are some tips to help you as you begin this challenge.

  1. Get yourself a new notebook. I picked up several at the local dollar store as I use them for my Bible Book Writing Challenges and journaling.
  2. If you don’t have a favourite pen, pick one up at the local stationery store. I came across one from Zebra, F-301 Fine point and I liked it so much, I bought a few more.
  3. Decide which Bible version you are going to copy from and stick with it for your future challenges. Personally, my favourite version is the King James and I use it for inductive study, reading, and handwriting the Bible.
  4. Join the Facebook group, Deeper in God Bible Studies so you can get the link to the Private Library.
  5. In the Private Library, check out the Writing Plan list and download and print the 5-Day Bible Book Writing Challenge for Colossians.
  6. In your notebook, keep a blank page before you start writing the first entry.
  7. Keep the Writing Plan handy and when the challenge is over, tape the folded Writing Plan on that blank page. This way you will have the Writing Plan showing first, then your daily entries. If you do this for each Writing Challenge, you will always have the Writing Plan at the beginning of each challenge.
  8. In the Facebook group, post a pic of each daily entry in the threads provided by the group leader. This helps you with accountability plus you get to see that others are taking this challenge with you.

Click the image below, or this link, to join the Facebook group. The group will be taking on this challenge September 17 – 21, 2018. If you are reading this after that date, you are still able to challenge yourself to write out the book of Colossians, or you can take on the current challenge.

The Kings of Israel

Are you still thinking about whether you should take on this challenge to write out the book of Colossians? Maybe this post will help you decide, Why We Should Handwrite the Bible will explain the benefits of handwriting out the Bible.

Did you know that God commanded the kings of Israel to handwrite their own copies of the Law? Why do you suppose that is? For what purpose? Hmmm. Check out Deuteronomy 17:18-20 for the deets.

And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. KJV

How much more should we handwrite the Words of God?

We’re all waiting for you to join us over in the Deeper in God Bible Studies group on Facebook. Hope to see you soon!

That’s a Wrap

May I remind you that one of the benefits of writing out the Bible is that this simple act will keep your mind on God. You’ll find that because you are reading and writing, that you begin to talk with God about the text you are reading. Details will pop out that you may not have noticed before. Plus your memory will improve when you need to recall what you’ve read.

Think about it…and join the group!

I hope to see you in the group.

Do you have any questions for me? Leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
